Connection with the Shop
Chandrakishor was born in the year 1963 in the home his father built in the year 1920s. At that time him, with his wife Lata and their entire family came to Amravati and built a G+2 for 14 of his family members that came with him. Building a home with existing members also brought up a famiiliarity with the street and the neighbourhood.

Rooms being converted into storage area

Even spaces like verandah were sometimes being used for storage during peak season, just for easier access on the first floor.

To utilize the entire front side of the home, the staircase was pushed far behind of the home in the back near the godown. The godown was a tight narrow space with a 4m heigh ceiling, but because there was no unknown faces around them, it was easier for them to get out from back of the shop. Lata often used to look after the shop from time to time. Their room being in the back of the home made it even easier for women of the home to move around the ghar. Just out of the familiarity, whenever she was going out she was asked “Bai aaj kathna ja rahe ho?”
Lata had a kid in 1987, Vikram who got married to Priti in 2010.

For Priti in 2010, the street was a busy street market with her home in some corner. The shop was extended, ground floor was cleared for the shop. Just to get down, for her, it was a narrow lane of unknown men working in the back and that corridor was filled with goon bags, oil cans and grease. The short path became a nightmare for her to just get out of the home.
After several negotiations the back straircase was broken off and re made in the fron of the home. The new staircase was directly opening up to the street and cutting of any connection with the shop. Doing this made the shop exist as a seperate entity and not mingle with the shop at all.
