Type Studio
Malusar, Mahableshwar
The course started with us visiting Mahableshwar for site study which was on a contour and visiting a small settlement in a village near by called Malusar,
We also read 'A Pattern Language' by Christopher Alexnander to understand what is type and pattern and how the whole world is made up of it.
In Malusar we studied the house 'types' and its pattern language.

From this the pattern which intrigued me the most was how this houses were creating partitions using plinths and how they were all just big elevated steps.
I also noticed how the people used there walls as a space.

This led me to the larger idea of how I can make my design with these large elevated steps that sits on the contours disturbing the site as little as possible.
I also looked at how I can use my walls as a space and not just a load bearing element.
